I got curious -

about astrology and all the various signs. So I'm looking up a bunch of stuff and seeing if it all kinda fits with me.

Virgo - the Maid
Inner Light
Archetypes: The Servant, The Martyr, The Perfectionist, The Analyst.

Basic Characteristics:
Virgo is second in the natural order of earth signs and natives can be expected to have strong practical and material interests. As it is a mutable sign, adaptability and changeability can be expected. The ruler of Virgo is traditionally Mercury, the planet of intellect and reason and communication. Modern research indicates Virgo's ruler(s) may in fact be the asteroids Ceres (goddess of the harvest) and Vesta (goddess of the hearth).

Virgo has a character that tends to be withdrawn, exacting, and dedicated to the pursuit of perfection through continual analysis. By meticulous attention to detail they attempt to bring order out of chaos. The superstition-ridden astrology of the Middle Ages classified Virgo as a server. This was reasonable when Virgo was heavily represented among the those few who could write and do sums and consequently served as retainers on the staff of an illiterate nobility. That the slight still lives on is due to the Virgoan dedication to orderliness. They will often jump in and volunteer to perform a task lest someone else mess it up. This is the sign most intently dedicated to problem solving for its own sake. Where Capricorn uses many of the same techniques, its problem solving is motivated by ambition, as Taurus' is by the drive to possess. Virgo solves problems simply because they need to be solved, because they stand in the way of perfection.

They tend to meet life as if it were made up of a continued series of problems. When faced with something they do not understand, they immediately begin to break it down into its elements, giving careful attention to the relationships that exist between them. Then they mentally place the pieces in various compartments and study them until they are able to grasp a single relationship that governs the whole.

Virgo is associated with purity. The common understanding of it, by reason of the name of Virgo, is moral purity. However, the purity referred to has the connotation of unadulterated or unalloyed. Virgo is self-sufficient, efficient and complete. They have the strongest appreciation for things that exist by and of themselves without being mixed with anything else. For instance, from a moral point of view, they are quite capable of enjoying sex, provided it is uncontaminated by romance. But as Virgo has high aesthetic standards, function must be united with form. Beauty standing alone without function has no practical purpose, and Virgo is, above all else, eminently practical.

While the traditional assignment of Mercury as ruler to Virgo would indicate Virgoans would have a need to communicate to the world at large their discoveries, Mercury's fun-loving gamesman-ship is missing from the Virgo mix. Vesta's concern for hearth and home, duty and responsibility, work and efficiency, is more Virgo's style. Virgoans tend to communicate their discoveries out of a need to teach others how things are best done rather than simply chattering away at how great they are in finding solutions.

WATER OX Horoscope
Feb 6, 1913 to Jan 25, 1914
Feb 3, 1973 to Jan 22, 1974

Oxen in China are put on a pedestal. So it goes with Oxen people. Oxen are bright, peace-loving, often easy-going and trusting. But, on the other hand, they can also be stubborn, methodical, and fiercely competitive, with, shudder, fierce tempers to boot. Oxen are natural born mentors and life is filled with examples of people who have gone on to great success because of them. Mentally and physically alert to the point of genius, many Oxen belong to Mensa. They can create the most imposing structures, magnificent sculpture, and homes. They respond like poets to the beauties of nature and of solitude. Oxen are unique, they are The Flower that bursts through the crack of cement.

Bird's Nest Soup and Bean Curd are among the keys to good health!!

With Water Oxen you never have to sit around listening to boring lecturing and long-winded yada-yada. Through quiet self-assurance, they simply carry on with life, setting examples by deed, never by words. They make extraordinary leaders. They inspire others to do their best, through kind patience, knowing that even waiters finally come to those who wait. Realistic and open-minded about the foibles of others, they are rewarded with unexpected surprises when people turn around and show their best attributes. Tit for tat!. Their stable careers and "living right" give them the potential to be enormously wealthy, and they frequently are. For Oxen in general, love life is somewhat of a mystery, but immensely satisfying, interwoven very nicely with contrasts of quietude and passion, solitude and togetherness.

The ability to communicate is one of the primary qualities associated with Water. Since you are a yin, Ox-sign person, you may tend to be introverted. Under the influence of Water, however, you can be a forceful and eloquent speaker when the situation calls for it. Water is often connected with artistic ability, so your communications skills could also be manifest in your participation in the performing arts.

Flexibility is another trait common to Water sign people. This may seem to contradict the Ox's reputation for stubbornness. In you flexibility is likely to manifest itself, even to a fault, in the way you adapt yourself to your immediate environment. You're likely, for example, to continually go with your natural tendency to shoulder others' burdens.

In spite of the Ox's characteristic, charge-ahead approach, under Water's influence you are probably not a confrontational person. Water, and you, favor the indirect approach. You are more likely to wear down your opponents with your persistence, as Water erodes rock. In general you are thus more of the live and let live type rather than a mover and shaker.

Compared to mountains and forests land-locked Water is rather unobtrusive, and so is the Ox. You most likely prefer to work in the background rather than the in the spotlight. You may also be the strong, silent type, only selectively using your communications skills. While you could do well when thrust into a leadership role, you generally prefer just being a loyal subordinate.

Rivers with their streams and tributaries seem to touch just about everywhere. You likewise probably have an extensive network of friends and, or, acquaintances. And, you may be emotionally connected to many of them due to your empathy and emotional feelings.

Water in fact is associated with emotions. As an Ox-sign person, however, your emotionality is likely to be of the internal variety. In other words, you don't readily display them but rather carry them inside yourself. This is a major reason why you are incompatible with Sheep-sign people, who require frequent, emotional support.

Just as rivers sometimes traverse great distances and Water seems to trickle endlessly after a rain, you probably get around and are comfortable with travel. Indeed, in the legend explaining the order of the 12 signs, the Ox is one of the first animals to cover the distance to Buddha, thus earning the honor of being the second of the 12 signs.

Finally, it must be said Water goes with mental, even psychic abilities. The Ox, however, is generally more of a doer than a thinker. You nevertheless probably have reasonably good foresight and decent reasoning ability. If education is to your liking, you can do well with your Ox perseverance and Water's facility with scholarship.

People born under the influence of the Ox are kind, caring souls, logical, positive, filled with common sense and with their feet firmly planted on the ground. Security is their main preoccupation in life, and they are prepared to toil long and hard in order to provide a warm, comfortable and stable nest for themselves and their families. Strong-minded, stubborn, individualistic, the majority are highly intelligent individuals who don't take kindly to being told what to do.

Although Ox people don't ask to be put in the limelight, they do like to be boss, for these quietly dominant types enjoy being in positions of power. Oxen try to instill in those around them the rigor, determination and power of work which they themselves possess. Respecting others, they are always open to a dialogue. Even though they may not broadcast their virtues to the world, nevertheless it is that steady, conscientious attitude that will deservedly see them to the top.

Hazel - The Knower
August 5 – September 1
If you are born under the energy of the Hazel, you are highly intelligent, organized and efficient. Like the Holly, you are naturally gifted in academia, and excel in the classroom. You also have the ability to retain information and can recall, recite and expound on subjects you’ve memorized with amazing accuracy. You know your facts, and you are always well informed. This sometimes makes you appear like a know-it-all to others, but you can’t help that; you’re genuinely smart and usually know the right course of action because of your impressive knowledge base. You have an eye for detail, and like things to be “just so.” Sometimes this need for order and control can lead to compulsive behaviors if left unchecked. You have a knack for numbers, science and things that utilize your analytical skills. You like rules, although you are typically making them rather than playing by them. The Celtic tree astrology sign of Hazel joins harmoniously with Hawthorn and Rowan’s.
