Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp) crosses paths with a woman from his past (Cruz), and he's not sure if it's love -- or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

I picked this movie because BF wanted to go see it

What I liked the Most? Cap’n Jack Sparrow – when he’s on

What I liked the Least? Cap’n Jack Sparrow – when he’s not

Review: Went and saw this with the BF at the movie theatre & I was disappointed. Not majorly – but there is the distinct flavor of disappointment involved with this movie.

The one thing that has made these movies for me, has been Jack’s over the top – truly larger than life persona and it was MISSING from this movie. It has abso nothing to do with co-stars (some awful dreamy peeps in this movie mind you) or lack of over the top creatures (gotta admit the mermaids were beautiful and terrifying all at the same time) or even really the spectacular special effects from the other movies. It was Jack’s role was lack luster and stilted. Almost like Johnny Depp was trying to play him into a straight man – and this does not work for me.

I really enjoyed the interplay between the lovely, talented Penélope Cruz and a some what droll Johnny Depp. “Why is it when ever we are together you end up pointing something at me?” But the romance factor was just not there, and neither was the believability. All in all – this is one of those – you know you are gonna go watch it movies so enjoy it to the fullest.
