Series: Bronwyn the Witch #1
When Bronwyn turned twenty she took the oath to protect, and for the last five years she's kept that promise, working as a kind of one-witch secret service to the British Prime Minister. Her arsenal includes a combination of potions, spells, explosions, mind-reading tricks, and general butt-kicking skills. But Bronwyn has a soft side, too-especially when it comes to Dr. Sam, the favorite physician of her new hometown, Sweet, Texas. He's smart, funny, adorable, everything she could want in a man. Except he's also a warlock-a big no-no in Bronwyn's book of dating. Being a witch is definitely getting in the way of her sex life. If zapping evil jerks is easy, why is finding a boyfriend so hard?
I picked this book up because I like the cat’s tail on the cover
What I liked the Most? Bronwyn herself - she's a witch who not only fights off warlocks, demons, and evil zombies, but gets paid to do it.
What I liked the Least? This book is written in a diary/journal format, which in this case was actually a drawback.
Side Note: I really liked the little notations at the beginnings of chapters; dead guys: 5 or demons: 0 – it reminds me of my day planner LOL.
Review: Bronwyn is a high witch – to be exact she is THE witch protecting the British Prime Minister. She has a full range of talents at her disposal – potions, spells, exploding people, mind reading, & in general pretty decent fighting skills. But the writing does not support the build up; in fact most of the writing seems to revolve around her jealousy issues over the warlock she left at home.
Overall it was predictable and to be honest little boring. This book is a clear case of publisher seeing "chick lit" with a "magical" main character and in their excitement to jump on the bandwagon they forget to check if this particular book is actually worth publishing.
Recommended to: It's readable and I wouldn't be put off reading the others in the series but not a keeper. Just keep in mind that it doesn't offer much to make it stand above the mass of really good paranormal fiction that's out there.
Best Quote: “Men are for sex only. Ride them hard and then let ’em go.”
