Series In Death #1
Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In more than ten years on the force, she's seen it all - and knows that her survival depends on her instincts. And she's going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire - and a suspect in Eve's murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it's up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about - except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.(
I picked this book up because My boss from Lori’s recommended the series too me MANY years ago – I’m just rereading cause I love to do that.
What I liked the Most? Mavis – She is abso my TTF (Tippy Top Favorite) character EVER!
What I liked the Least? With this 1st installment – there was a lot of world building – it can be a bit slow at times, but no real complaint.
Review:This book is a dark, sexy thriller filled with passion, tension, and an awesome cast of characters - Nora Roberts (JD Robb’s real name) gets right to business with this first installment – murder. It’s NYC in 2058 and Lieutenant Eve Dallas gets called to a grizzly crime scene – a prostitute (known as a “licensed companion” or “LC”) has been gunned down in her own apartment, and she’s not just any LC, but the granddaughter of a U.S. Senator on the fast track to Presidency. The killer has promised 5 more murders.
This story is very character driven, you have:
- Eve, by-the-book officer with a strong moral compass, and she’s extremely passionate and capable in her duties to protect and serve
- Roarke, the sexy and mysterious Irish tycoon, wealthier than any one else in the known world
- Mavis, Eve’s best friend – quirky and extremely entertaining
OMG, this book was satisfying – from start to finish.
Recommended to: Everyone who likes a good mystery with a developing story
Best Quote: There might be a God. She hadn't completely ruled such things out. And if there were, she thought, It must have enjoyed a good laugh over Its creations' useless rituals and passages.
