I picked this book up because Series

What I liked the Most? This is one of my favorites of the series – Eve’s break down when they take her shield. She is cop to her core & you find out why.

What I liked the Least? The fact that he thought he could get away with it because the victims were the dredges of society

Review: This book really hits a home run with me ~ it has so many layers to it! Eve is going up against a murderer and a low ranked officer who wants to take down the famous detective. Dallas makes her living being a hard ass cop who bends the rules slightly but she does it to help those who can't help themselves.

In this installment, Eve gets called to a street scene. As she is trying to find out why someone would kill a homeless person and surgically cut out his heart, she ruffles the feathers of a useless officer, Bowers. Bowers then threatens to take down Dallas, apparently she has a big grudge against Eve though Eve has no idea why. Dallas insists it doesn't matter because she will never have to work with Bowers again. On a routine search for like crimes another unsolved NYC murder is linked with Dallas' case.

Terror and mayhem ensue – as well as basic introductions to two recurring characters.
