Cinnamon Rolls

Using the bread dough recipe and basic instructions over here. Try adding this mixture in the middle and then topping with the icing.

Filling
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened, for spreading and folding in the dough
1. Mix the butter, sugar, brown sugar & cinnamon in a bowl.
2. Roll the dough into a rectangle.
3. Spread the softened cream cheese evenly over the surface.
4. Fold the short end into the center. Fold the other short end over the first, like you were folding a letter. Roll the dough again. Repeat this step one time.
5. Roll the dough back out into a rectangle and spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, then top by the nuts. Beginning with the long edge, roll the dough into a log and cut into equal slices.
6. Place the slices in a greased square baking pan, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for 2 hours.
7. At about the 2 hour mark, turn the oven on to 375. Bake 30-35 minutes, until golden brown.

Icing
  • 1 ½ tablespoons milk
  • 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1. To make icing, whisk together the sugar and milk until smooth.
2. Drizzle icing over the buns, Serve warm.
