Knight

I had to make a really tough decision and take Knight's best interests to heart. My baby was so gentle and kind.

Quit Smoking Medal

My quit smoking medal from my parents - one whole week - even with all the Crap that's going on

Solitary Ritual

This Ritual shall be performed during the evening hours, sometime after Sunset. Sweep area, starting in the North and moving deosil, with your magickal broom to cleanse the Circle area and "sweep away" any lingering negative energies. Set up the Quarter candles (North-Green, East-Yellow, South-Red, West-Blue) and/or other items symbolizing the elements at the Four Quarters. Set up your altar as desired, and face it to the North, covering it with a red or green altar cloth. Place all of the items listed below in their proper places upon it. For this ceremony, decorate the altar with holly, mistletoe, evergreen, pine cones, ivy, berries, ribbons, and whatever else feels right. Having a Yule Tree nearby the altar will add a lot to the ritual. Along with your usual ritual tools and items, have upon the altar:
Red or Green Altar Cloth Holly Sprig (placed upon the altar) Mistletoe Sprig (placed underneath the altar, for use later) Three Candles in Holders for the Triple Goddess
(1 White, 1 Red, and 1 Black - arranged around the Cauldron)
Cauldron with a Green Candle inside Incense - Any of the following either alone or mixed together to make a Winter Blend:
Cinnamon, Myrrh, Cloves, Frankincense, Aloes Wood, and Saffron

When all is set up, take a shower or bath for purification and don your Ritual Robe or other ritual attire. Be sure to wear your Magickal jewelry, if you have any. Sit quietly and meditate for a little while - to ground and center. When you feel ready to begin, play some quiet peaceful music for the ritual.

Cast the Circle... Light the God and Goddess candles. Leave all the other candles unlit until the appropriate time within the ritual. Have the green candle placed inside the Cauldron, surrounded by the white, red, and black candles. Also have the sprig of Holly upon the altar, and the Mistletoe sprig tucked away underneath the altar. Sit quietly meditating within the cast Circle for a little while... When you feel ready, begin your ceremony with these words:
"Blessed be the season of Yule. This is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year. Darkness reigns triumphant, yet gives way and changes to Light. The Sun King has gone into the realms of Death --- yet, within the Sacred Cauldron of Rebirth, he is once again transformed into the Newborn Divine Child of Light. Blessed be the young Virgin Goddess who gives to her people tonight a Newborn God. Blessed be the Newborn Sun King."
Pause and reflect on the meaning of this spoke in the Wheel of the Year for a few moments, then continue... saying:
"All is cold, and I await the coming of Dawn. As the Sun rises, the Triple Goddess once more gives birth to the Divine Child. In silence and wonder I stand before the Sacred Cauldron of Rebirth, knowing that one day I too must pass through the Cauldron to be reborn. For this I now give honor to the Triple Goddess."
Light the White candle near the Cauldron, saying:
"White is for the Maiden. Blessed be the Virgin, innocent and fresh. May you plant your seeds of joy and new beginnings within my life."
Light the Red candle near the Cauldron, saying:
"Red is for the Mother. Blessed be the Mother, fertile and loving. May you grant me gifts of creative ideas and the strength to bring them to completion."
Light the Black candle near the Cauldron, saying:
"Black is for the Crone. Blessed be the Crone, powerful and wise. May you give me wisdom to understand the Magickal Mysteries."
Light the Green candle inside the Cauldron, saying:
"Green is for the Newborn Lord of the Forests, the Divine Sun Child who comes once more into the world. I welcome you, Child and Consort of the Triple Goddess."
Face the North, raise your arms and say:
"Rejoice, O Powers of Earth! Welcome the Divine Child."
Face the East, raise your arms and say:
"Rejoice, O Powers of Air! Welcome the Divine Child."
Face the South, raise your arms and say:
"Rejoice, O Powers of Fire! Welcome the Divine Child."
Face the West, raise your arms and say:
"Rejoice, O Powers of Water! Welcome the Divine Child."
Take up your Athame and banish the Old Year by drawing a banishing Pentagram in the air, saying:
"Farewell to the Old Year. Farewell to the Holly King."
Now draw an invoking Pentagram in the air and say these words:
"Welcome to the New Year. Welcome to the Oak King."
When you are done, replace your Athame on the altar.
Next, remove the Holly from the altar and place it out of sight. Then place the Mistletoe, the symbol of the Oak King, on top of the altar in a place of honor. Say these words:
"Blessed be the King of the Waxing Year. I pray you will guide your children safely through to the season of warmth and light."
Take the Goddess candle in your left hand and the God candle in your right, saying these words:
"Tonight the Goddess and God are reunited. Tonight Life begins anew, and Light begins anew. Blessed be the One Light. Blessed be the Divine Force of Creation."
Move the candle flames together so that they are one. Spend a moment reflecting on its meaning, and then replace the candles side by side on the altar. Continue with these words:
"Hail, O God of the Woodlands and New Life! I give you honor and ask your blessing."
Sit in silence to receive His blessing... then continue, saying:
"Hail, Triple Goddess, bringer of Light out of Darkness and New Life out of the Cauldron of Rebirth. I give you honor and ask your blessing."
Again sit in silence to receive Her blessing. Drink from the Chalice, pour a Libation to the Lord and the Lady and save some to be put outside for the little people. When you are finished, proceed with the Cakes and Ale Ceremony. followed by Releasing the Circle in your usual manner.

Set up your altar as desired, and face it to the North, covering it with the orange-and-black altar cloth. Place all of the items listed below in their proper places upon it. For this ceremony, decorate the altar with photographs, obituaries and other mementos of loved ones who have passed on (Family, Friends and Pets), and whatever else feels right. In addition to your usual tools and props, upon the altar should be:
Orange and/or Black Altar Cloth Photographs, Obituaries and other Mementos from Loved Ones (Family, Friends and Pets) who have passed on... Three Candles in Holders for the Triple Goddess (1 White, 1 Red, and 1 Black - placed on the Left side of the Altar)
Three Candles in Holders for the Triple God (1 Yellow, 1 Green, and 1 Black - placed on the Right side of the Altar)
Cauldron with a Black Candle inside An Apple and a Bolline (or other Sharp Knife to cut it with) Food and Drink of your choice for sharing the Feast with the Departed Ones... Incense, Autumnal Blend using any combination of the following, or simply use one alone:
Mint, Nutmeg, Sage, Apple, and Heliotrope
When all is set up, take a shower or bath for purification and don your ritual robe or other ritual attire. Be sure to wear your magickal jewelry. Sit quietly and meditate for a little while - to ground and center before beginning the Ritual. When you feel ready to begin, play some quiet peaceful music for the ritual.

Cast the Circle... Sit quietly meditating within the cast Circle for a little while... When you feel ready, begin by turning to the three candles on the left side of the altar, saying:
"I light three candles for the Triple Goddess... ...the Great Lady of Three Aspects.”
Light the White Candle, saying:
"Glorious Maiden, Goddess of youth and new beginnings, dawn, and the planted seed...
Light the Red Candle, saying:
"Great Mother, Goddess of magick and plenty, love and knowledge."
Light the Black Candle, saying:
"Dark Crone, wise Goddess of the night, death and rebirth. I welcome the Goddess in all Her forms."
Turn to the three candles on the right side of the altar, saying:
"I light three candles for the Triple God... ...Great Lord of many faces.
Light the Yellow Candle, saying:
"Bright Sun King, God of success and plenty..."
Light the Green Candle, saying:
"Horned God of the Woodlands, God of fertility and growth..."
Light the Black Candle, saying:
"Dark Lord of the Underworld, God of protection and rest... I welcome the God in all His forms."
With the Wand in your power hand, tap the Cauldron five times. Raise your arms over the altar and say:
"Dark Goddess, Lord of Death, I ask Your blessings. Lift the Veil for me so that I may greet my Loved Ones who have passed on, Friends, family and pets who have gone ahead into your realms. Let only those who wish me well enter this Circle.”
Touch the plate (or basket) of food with the Wand, saying:
"This is the night of the Feast of the Dead, the night of the wheel-turning year that brings us to the Thin Veil. The gates between the worlds stand open this night. I honor my Loved Ones whose voices come to me on the whispering wind. The Veil is lifted this night so that all may once more rejoice together in fellowship. All those who wish me well, welcome to my Circle As we eat, may we remember the eternal presence of the Gods, and may we remember that what we call death is but a fleeting existence in the cycle of birth, death and rebirth."
Place the plate (or basket) of food on the Pentacle. Light the black candle in the Cauldron, say:
"I ask all who have gathered here to join me in this feast. This is a time of remembrance of all those gone into the realm of the Dark Mother and the Dark Lord. May I always have good health, prosperity and happiness.”
Eat a little of the food and drink some of the fruit juice. Anything left after the ritual must be placed outside or buried.
Sit silently now and think of family, friends, and pets who have departed this Earth. Pick up and look at the photographs. Savor this time with them. When you feel that you are finished, say:
"The Thin Veil has been lifted. My Loved Ones have come to the Feast of the Dead. I thank them for their presences and words of comfort."
Pick up the apple and say these words:
"Beautiful Maiden, you are the dispenser of the seed of life, Life that awaits, hidden in the Sacred Cauldron. Fruitful Mother, your ripeness of power nurtures the seed Bringing it into existence and helping it grow. Dark Mother, your Magick Cauldron is the well of death and rebirth, An experience each of us undergoes again and again. Let there be no fear in me, for I know your gentleness. Here is the secret symbol of life in death and death in life, the hidden, mystical symbol of the Triple Goddess."
Cut the apple crosswise to reveal the hidden pentagram in the core. Incline your head toward the altar and say:
"My deepest thanks to the Triple Ladies, and to the Triple Lords. May I always walk in peace beside you."
Eat part of the apple. Place the remainder outside (after you have completed your ritual) as an offering to the birds and animals.
Turn back to the Goddess candles and say:
"The Wheel of the Year has turned, the harvest has come again. I have sown many thought-seeds since last Samhain. Let the good be harvested; Let those that would hinder or harm me be cast aside. The Triple Goddess has covered me with Her gentle hands, guided my steps, heard my desires. For this I give Her honor and love."
Turn to the God candles and say:
"The Wheel of the Year has turned, the harvest has come again. Once more I stand before the Thin Veil, before the gates that divide the worlds. The Triple God has protected me with His sword, guided my steps, heard my desires. For this I give Him honor and love."
Now tap the Pentacle gently with your Wand, saying:
"Give me clear knowledge of the path I am to follow. Hear my desires, O Great Ones! Guide me and protect me. Lead me to greater knowledge and fulfillment."
Sit in silence while you ask what you need of the Gods. Also listen for spirit guidance that may come from those in the Summerland. When you feel you are finished, say:
""All love and honor to the Great Goddess and the Horned God! Blessed Be!"
When you have finished, the time has now come to Release the Circle.
Now is the time for meditation and any spellworkings you may need or desire to end your Sabbat celebration... Appropriate Spellwork to consider for this turn in the Wheel of the Year is any for protection and neutralizing harm - these are particularly warranted at this time of year, because Samhain is considered to be a good time to boost your confidence and security.
If no spellwork is to be done at this time, then proceed with the Cakes and Ale Ceremony, followed by Releasing the Magick Circle.

Pet Death/Euthanasia Ritual

Sandalwood incense
Rose Quartz
One flower of your choice
Red Candle
White Candle
Vinegar
Honey

Open Circle for proper Esbat.

Light the incense and candles, and greet the Lord and Lady by saying:

"I come to You now to release
This pain and all emotional beasts
That plague my heart so heavily -
Take them from me - set me free!"

Name the flower for your pet. Holding it in your hand, stroke its petals and
speak to your pet with love and honesty. If euthanasia was a factor, explain your reasons for terminating his/her life cycle. If not, this is a good time to talk to your pet about the loneliness you feel without him/her.

Place the flower on the altar and lay the rose quartz on top of it. Tell your pet that the stone will always represent him/her to you, and explain that she or he is free to go to the Summerlands for rebirthing. Say:

"You're free to go now, Little One,
Rejoice and play - the time has come
For your spirit to be on its way.
Have fun, be happy - your love will stay!"

Meditate on the spirit of your pet moving on, then place a drop of vinegar on your tongue to represent the sourness we feel when Death takes a loved one. Take some time to grieve for what might have been. (If you haven't had a good cry yet, now is the time. Scream, yell, throw a fit if you need to, but get it all out of your system.)

When you feel all cried out, taste the honey. Rejoice and celebrate the relationship you had with your pet. Remember all the good times you had, the
love you shared, and the special spot the pet filled in your life.

Extinguish the candles and thank the Lord and Lady for Their comforting presence.

Release the flower into a body of water, such as a river or stream. Wish it a fond farewell as it floats away. Keep the rose quartz close to you, or in a safe place, or on your altar.

Prayers for a Dog

In days gone by, the dog ran wild, untamed and free.
Although man may have tamed your bodies,
we have never tamed your spirit.
You are free now.
Go and run with your pack,
with your wild ancestors, racing by the midnight moon.
Go and hunt for your prey,
taking what is your birthright.
Join the wolf, the jackal, the wild dogs,
and run with your kin on the wild hunt.
Run, and guide your spirit home.

In Loving Memory of Knight

Your not physically with me anymore, but you will always be my big old baby. I love you, Uba. Now it's time for you to go have another adventure with Storm.

I have loved you from the day you came into my life,
and now it is time for me to let you go.
I could not watch you suffer,
I could not see you in pain.
Now you are free.
Your body is no longer sick,
or weak, or hurting.
Now you can run with the others,
playing and hunting as wild things do.
Because I loved you,
I had to let you go.
You will live forever in my heart.

Rite of Release for a Beloved Pet

The altar setting is simple: one central candle (white or whatever color feels right), as well as three others - black, red, and white, to be lit during the ritual; a flower (fully opened - preferably a rose - of whatever color seems appropriate to you), which becomes the symbol of your lost one; It is best to perform this "Rite of Release" when the Moon is at Her darkest, before She is renewed.

Begin by lighting the central candle, and, if you wish, performing a ritual of purification, then proceed with these words:

"It is the way of Life that all living beings, whether early or late, come unto Death, that in Time, they may come round again to circle into Life."

Pick up and hold, cradle if you wish, the flower (rose or whatever you chose), for symbolically, this is your lost loved one.

"And so unto death have you gone, my little one, heart of my heart, I will always remember the deep love that we shared, and will always share... like this flower, a thing of joy and beauty in all its glory, so you were for me a wondrous and magickal little being added to share the years of pleasure that we did. Thank you for your precious gift."

"Of the Triple Goddess, She Who Opens and Shuts All Doors, Lady of All Joys and Sorrows, I ask you:"

(light the black candle)

"That the Crone lovingly fly you to Summerland wrapped in the softest black feathers."

(light the red candle)

"That the Mother always comfort you in Her loving embrace."

(light the white candle)

"That the Maiden always smile brightly upon you."

"Know that there will always be an empty place under my heart that cannot be filled, where your memory shall dwell forever. I bid you a pleasant journey, and a peaceful sojourn. Rest well, be renewed, and return again when you are ready."

"Fare thee well, until we meet again."
Extinguish only the central candle. Take the flower and go outside to some special site you have chosen, where you have prepared a hole, and bury the flower there, saying these words as you do:

"As this hole is filled, so let my wound be healed. For even as this flower returns to Mother Earth, to return again some day as Life, so will you, my little one. And as leaf and stem and petal are drawn back into the Womb, so let my grief be drawn in, to return again one day as joy."

The black, red, and white candles shall be left lit on the altar to burn themselves out.

Margarita

To shaker, add 3/4 of an ounce (about half a shot) fresh lime juice, 1 to 1½ ounces low-calorie triple sec and 2 ounces tequila. Add ice. Count slowly to 10 while shaking. Rub a lime halfway along the glass's outside rim, then roll the moistened part of the rim in kosher salt. Pour margarita into the glass.

Caipirinha

Cut a room-temperature lime into quarters and drop it in a shaker. Add one packet of sucralose sweetener (such as Splenda) and one tablespoon water. Mash the mixture very well with a wooden spoon, dissolving the lime into mush. Add a shot (1½ ounces) of white rum and enough ice cubes to fit in an old-fashioned glass. Shake well. Pour mixture (including the peel) into a glass. Variation: Add slices of mangos or a few cherries along with the lime.
