Once again I must ask too much of you, Harry.

In the sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft, and in both wizard and muggle worlds Lord Volemort and his henchmen are increasingly active. With vacancies to fill at Hogwarts, Professor Dumbledor persuades Horace Slughorn, back from retirement to become the potions teacher, while Professor Snape receives long awaited news. Harry Potter, together with Dumbledore, must face treacherous tasks to defeat his evil nemesis.

I picked this movie because it is something that my sister, my father & I all agree on. We loved the books, so now were share the movies.

What I liked the Most? I'm on a girl power kick - Herminoe rocked this movie, but no one could have done bitch like Bellatrix Lestrange.

What I liked the Least? The fact that the movie revolved around the various romances

Review: Personally I wasn't very happy with this installment. I was expecting 5 alarm chili with the battle at Hogwarts & the gut wrenching pain at Dumbledore's death and instead was served creamy tomato soup with a side of crackers. Now I know that not every well written scene makes the cut when dealing with a movie, but WOW, this was shear butchery, it was all foreplay and no climax. It felt like the characters were running in place, just stalling for time before the final chapter(s). It was just plain bland.

Now don't get me wrong, I loved the story line as it was presented, it just didn't fill me with any great need to "rush" to the next movie. I love that the characters appear to be maturing and dealing well with the lemons that life has handed them, but snogging is not the end all be all of the story.

  1. It was an interesing movie, but I hated the romance, I don't mind some, but it's ok in small doses. If there is a lot of romance it needs to be balanced with action. BUT IT WAS ALL ROMANCE. Good review, cya.

  2. Thanks Pizza, I'm pretty certain the entire movie was about snogging and/or romance.

  3. YES! Another person who agrees with me. I went to see this with my mom, and we came out saying this "2 Hours of snogging, 30 minutes of plot". I was so pissed! It was all romance, to the point they left out a lot of important plot factors that are kind of needed for the 7th movie. (Like what the Horcruxes are) the huge fight scene at Hogwarts, the one place said to be impenetrable to death eaters, even Dumbeldor's death was very poorly done, everyone was devastated in the books, in the movie, it seems like, ah nuts, Dumbeldore is dead, when do we get back to Snogging.

Sigh! I'm re-reading the book, its my favourite (tied with the third) and the movie seems even worse, now that I am.

On the positive side, Tom Felton/Draco's performance was phenomenal. He did a great job at that, Kudos to him.

  4. Jules - I know, it was like, wands up, light - now snog to forget the pain. I know they can't put everything in, but they could have left SOMETHING?!?!?!
